After the Turkish invasion in 1974, many refugees from the occupied parts of Cyprus established themselves in the new community.
The joint village took the name of Statos-Agios Fotios and is located in the Paphos district very close to Agia Moni and the Monastery of Panagia Chrysorogiatissa.
Abandoned village of Agios Fotios

The Saint Fotios and Anikitos Chapel is built amongst the houses of the old community of the abandoned village of Agios Fotios in the Paphos district. From the information given to us it seems that there was a previous temple in the same location which was demolished years ago. The temple which is there today was built in 1921. It is a small chapel stone built with a very common stone found in the area and with a tiled roof. Its interior is white however there are no murals on the walls. Large Water Feature & Mural of Agios Fotios
As you decend down the hill to Agios Fotios on the road from the main E622 to Choulou the first thing you see is this renovated water feature.  The plaque indicates it was originally built in 1943. The letters WSID stand for the Water Supply and Irrigation Department.  As you can see in the distance is this strange derelict building which has a mural drawn on it by the street artist Morden Gore. |
