The community of Fyti is still an iconic village which continues to preserve its traditional local architecture. In the area one can meet the very few residents doing traditional work such as ploughing their fields with animals or weaving with the old traditional voufa.
Church of Dimitrios & Village Tavern
Church of Saint Dimitrios In the heart of Fyti Village newly renovated paved square is The Church of Saint Dimitrios which was built in 1857, and Fyti Village Tavern. |

Next to the Church of Dimitrios is the Fyti Village Tavern, which has recently been completely renovated. It is originally 200 years old and probably the oldest building in the village and was formerly a boys’ school. |

On the opposite side of the square to the Church of Dimitrios is the Fyti Village Tavern is the Fyti Pefkos Restaurant, which takes its name from the old pine tree standing at its entrance. The walls of the indoor seating area of the Pefkos Restaurant are adorned with colourful textiles called fythkiotika. The photograph above shows the outside seating area of the Pefkos Restaurant |

Descending to the west part of Fyti Village, as you wander down the village’s narrow alleys you can admire the folkloric architecture of the structures and buildings. The highlight of all these is the Forester’s House, which was in a very bad condition, almost being in ruins. 
Today the Forester’s house has been completely renovated by Fyti’s Community Council and will be used as a Cultural Centre for various exhibitions and folklore events. |

Farming is still a big industry in Cyprus and there are still plenty of working farms in and around Fyti village in the Ezousa valley where the land is still very fertile. With the land of the Ezousa valley being so fertile and the summers being so dry and hot, farmers can usually get two or three crop rotations of cereals etc. in a year. |
